A RAM calculator for your MC server needs.

Everyone gets confused all the time on how much RAM they need. Well, we've done all the testing for you and here's what we recommend.

RAM recommendations

From our testing, this is what is required for a typical MC server. For plugins, the RAM that can be taken up varies on the plugin your installing, so you should check if the plugin your installing has any special requirements.

Without further ado, here's what we recommend.

Base RAM	MC Version	Plugins
5GB of RAM for the first 5 players, then add 1GB per 10 additional players	1.17+	Add 1GB of RAM per 10 plugins.
At least 4GB RAM up to the first 10 players, then add 1GB per 10 additional players	1.16.5 and below	Add 1GB of RAM per 20 plugins.
At least 2.5GB RAM up to the first 10 players, then add 1GB per 10 additional players	1.13.2 and below	Add 1GB of RAM per 20 plugins.

*The reason 1.17+ needs at least 5GB is there needs to be RAM assigned in the background for Java to do its work and background tasks. We've optimized it as much as we can on our end though so the RAM is used efficiently, to improve game performance.

**These figures are what we recommend for smooth gameplay.

Modded Servers

We recommend at least 5GB of RAM for any modded server. Modded servers are very resource-intensive and use large amounts of RAM. If you plan on installing many mods or large modpacks, you may need to add even more RAM to your server to prevent lag.

It is dependant on what you install, but most of the time, it can be RAM-consuming so prepare in advance for what plan you'll go for!
